Blue Mountains Running Co. are proud to have local running legends Marnie Ponton and Ben Berriman as our store ambassadors. Both Marnie and Ben have contributed significantly to our running community here in the mountains and are exceptional role models for the next generation.
A bit about Marnie…
Marnie is a mum of 2 and a Hoka One One athlete that trains with Up Coaching under the guidance of head coach Brendan Davies. Marnie began running at an elite level as a child and is now an accomplished road and trail runner with many titles to her name.
Marnie returned to running a few years ago after a long break and is already right back up there with the elites, convincingly winning the Six Foot Track ultramarathon earlier this year and going on to defend her title in the UTA951 at Ultra-Trail Australia. This year has also seen Marnie become the NSW state champion for 10km in a time 33.32. She also achieved and impressive 8th place at the prestigious Gold Coast Marathon. Marnie's dedication and humble attitude and her commitment to her sport is inspirational, she is generous with her time abd is encouraging of all runner. We are thrilled to have Marnie on board as an ambassador and we look forward to following her running journey!
A bit about Ben…
Ben is a father of 2, a teacher (Assistant Principal) and a local Trail running legend! Many years ago now, Ben co-founded the Blue Mountains Marathon Clinic, a community group designed to help people connect to other runners and seek advice and confidence around all things running. Ben has enthusiastically moderated this group and has arranged countless fun and inclusive community events, such as the annual ‘Hipster Coffee Run’ a favourite of many of the Blue Mountains Locals.
Ben’s a fantastic and talented runner in his own right, but even more impressive than this is his dedication to the community and the sport he loves. Ben is the go-to person for anything related to trail running in the Blue Mountains and we are so proud to have him as an ambassador of our store!
