You know how it is when you find the perfect Trail shoe? And then they stopped making them? Devastating right.
That’s what happened to me in 2016 when pearl Izumi stopped making trail shoes. I have been unsuccessfully searching ever since. So much time, so much MONEY, so much disappointment.
I’m delighted to say that finally I truly feel that this 58yo Cinderella has finally found her slipper!
It’s actually a stretch to call me Cinderella or the Topo ultraventure a slipper but from the very moment I slid my foot into this gorgeous, shimmery green hued shoe I knew it was “the one”
The acid test would come after the first hundred K or so though…to see if it was starting to scrub out in the heel which is a pretty universal problemo for me in running shoes.
Now about 150-200km in that inner heel cradle fabric is still as smoothly sublime as day 1. Sweet lord it’s a miracle! I’ve had many scrub out in under 100km 🤦🏼♀️
I bought these mainly for an upcoming 1000 K hike in Western Australia in Sept/October. I don’t do much in the way of running any more. That said I have taken it out for a couple of short trots and they were wonderful there also!
So I’ll be buying another pair very soon cos 1000km with a pack is pretty hard on shoes and I ain’t expecting them to be up for that on top of two months of lead in training.
Pricey? Yes. $250. For this small business woman with a heavily impacted business (cheers COVID ☹️) it’s a lot.
Upside is my whole body and soul loves these shoes AND together we are NOW totes up for 7 weeks walking in the bush (cheers COVID 😃)
So yeah. Everyone’s feet and mechanics are different sure… but these are so working for me!
Light even with a sturdy Vibram sole, they cradle my heel perfectly, no movement even when I lace loose as I like too.
There’s the roomy toe box which accommodates my Injinji toe socked digits perfectly, a good grip on all but one slimy hard mud weirdness on a decent I came across but I didn’t stack. And the lugs are not so aggressive that hard dirt roads feel awful or stones and mud get so caught (looking at you ON runners) you need to take a bloody hoof pick out with you…
They also look GREAT! I think my iridescent green pair looks like a Christmas 🪲 I love that. So festive.
So all up, these appear to be my new and hopefully a very long time, trail shoe of choice.
And thank you Blue Mountains running co for your super speedy service. Impressed!
I love the image displayed in the goggles as it reminds me of all my runs in the Jamo valley. Plus the hat is super comfy!
I love wearing my new Tee here in Qld; it's like having a little bit of the Blue Mts trails close by despite moving north❤️
Thank you. Anything I order always arrives so quickly. The little note attached with a blue mountains sticker is a thoughtful touch. 😊 love the Store hopefully visit one day.
I love these Goodr sunglasses, in fact I love them all. I now own 6 pairs and they are so comfy for running: don't bounce around, are light, and most importantly look great!
Very happy with the product. Completed the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail Race (BVRT) 86km in 7hr:01min:40sec placing 2nd. The product was fantastic and appreciate you all for supplying Spring Energy :-). Keep the efforts up!!
As soon as I saw this I had to have it. Absolutely love the colour and the wool is so soft. Bonus is the inside has a fleece lining. Highly recommend to others.
I absolutely loved these! I spent 12 days on the Larapinta trail, so the outback theme was perfect, and they were so comfy
What an awesome running tee! I ran with it during the Ultra-Australia... a great tee for the race and the number of comments I received (cool too, that's right, etc)... it was the right choice!
Hoka listened and produced. I’ve done 150K in the first 2 weeks of having these shoes and they are by far the best. Traditionally too tight but now this 2E wide is the perfect fit. I bought 1 size up and have absolute confidence in them. Having done multiple ultra events with years of training, these shoes have what it takes to keep your mind on what’s important without that niggling doubt they will let you down. 10 out of 10 Hoka One One and the staff at Blue Mountains Running Company. 👍👍👍
Finally found the comfiest and most secure sunglasses to wear out there bushwalking and running. The polarised lenses are fantastic and help relax my eyes. They don’t bounce around either which is great for when I’m going along the rough and rocky bush tracks.
Black Diamond Headlamp very impressive - now I don't have to worry about falling into a pothole (plenty up here after the floods)! BMRC were very helpful with my order in which I had made an error. All sorted with no fuss and Headlamp arrived safely soon after. Thank you
I upgraded to this pack from a Kathmandu running vest.
The difference is extraordinary. The snug fit, thoughtful design and pure comfort has made my long runs so much more comfortable.
12/10 would buy again
If you're looking for comfort and support these socks do exactly that. I bought new shoes with these socks and expected a little blistering. Absolutely NO blistering whatsoever. I'm obsessed with these socks haha and the patterns and colours are just adorable.
So light and heaps of secret pockets. Ran a marathon last Sunday in the rain and the back has extra waterproof cover. Everything stayed dry. Even my sandwich. 😀😀
